England slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Italy in Manaus, with Mario Balotelli scoring the all important second goal for the Azzurri.

Goals from Wilfried Bony and Gervinho saw off a plucky Japan in the late kickoff yesterday, with the Africans moving into second place in Group C, behind Colombia on goal difference.
