Newcastle United made Paraguayan playmaker Miguel Almiron their record signing after agreeing a £21million deal with MLS side Atlanta United for his signature today.

The 25-year-old signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Magpies, and he will be hoping to hit the ground running and repay manager Rafa Benitez’s faith in him having been under his radar for almost a year.

Almiron is expected to bring goals and assists to a Newcastle side that often struggles to create goalscoring chances, and after hitting 13 goals and assisting 11 others in 37 league games in 2018, it is safe to say he is very much up to the task.

The Paraguay international midfielder is definitely a great talent, and judging from this clip, Newcastle have landed a big gem for themselves.

Any player who eventually breaks Newcastle previous transfer record – the £16.5m signing of Michael Owen from Real Madrid in 2005 – is surely worth it, and the fans will hope Almiron does enough to keep the club going in the Premier League going forward.
