Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has scored for his country as Nigeria beat Denmark 2-0 on Saturday to set up a semifinal clash against Germany on Wednesday.
Nigeria dominated the proceedings in Salvador and took the initiative when Imoh Ezekiel produced a brilliant run from the left before teeing up Chelsea’s Mikel to finish from six yards out before halftime.
Mikel turned provider for Nigeria’s second as he set up Aminu Umar to head home from a corner. Mikel, who has been at Chelsea for 11 years, has scored four goals for Nigeria in 75 games, and it was his first in the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Tammy Abraham is making the best use of his time at Bristol City, as he notched up his fourth goal in his third appearance for the Robins.
