SPFL are prepared to end the season now and declare Celtic as the champions.
As per Daily Record, UEFA are keen on to finish the domestic competitions even if it lingers on until July/August.
They have added that leagues who choose to end their season abruptly could end up missing out on European football for the next season.
The report from Daily Record claims that the SPFL bosses are now prepared to call UEFA’s bluff and end the season early. It will be interesting to see what happens in that case.
Celtic could miss out on European football if UEFA decide to punish them.
Furthermore, SPFL’s decision would be unfair to the clubs fighting for survival as well. The likes of Hearts would go down.
Also, Rangers can still win the title mathematically and therefore it would be harsh on them as well.
Steven Gerrard’s side can still catch up with Celtic and although it is not a realistic possibility, it has to be considered to preserve the integrity of the game.
Celtic have not won the title yet and they should be made to play their remaining games behind closed doors when it is safe to do so.
The potential decision from SPFL will undoubtedly excite the Celtic fans but it would leave a bitter aftertaste for the rest of the league.
