Glasgow Rangers have taken a major decision on Monday – the Ibrox club intends to implement the Coronavirus job retention scheme for a number of its employees.

Premier League clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich City, AFC Bournemouth, and Newcastle United have taken the decision to put some of the non-playing staff on furlough amid the coronavirus crisis. Liverpool initially had followed that route but the club have changed their stance on Monday.

Rangers have issued a statement stating that the club have considered that all employees should be treated fairly and with respect whilst they safeguard the club finances in such uncertain times.

To balance the situation, Rangers announced that all the first Team players, club manager, coaches and Executive Directors have volunteered to take a salary deferral for the next three months. Surely, this is a brilliant move, and it seems to have the hearts of many Gers fans.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has said that everyone at the club have unanimously taken this decision to defer wages to ensure that fellow colleagues could continue to be paid their salaries in full. This is indeed a sign of great leadership and responsibility taken by senior members at the club, and it will only strengthen the bond with the supporters during these tough times.
