Chelsea will take on Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, looking to progress to the finals for the second time in three years.
The Blues are back in the title race after earning a 2-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. However, the central focus remains on the European front and having secured a 0-0 draw at the Vicente Calderon in the first leg, the home side will be out in full confidence against the La Liga league leaders.
The home side will be missing several key players for this tie. John Terry suffered an ankle injury at the Calderon and the skipper is doubtful for this tie. Ashley Cole, who started in the last two matches, is set to continue at left back.
In midfield, Chelsea have huge problems, as John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard both are suspended for this game, while Nemanja Matic is ineligible to participate. So, David Luiz is expected to partner Ramires in the centre.
Eden Hazard, the winner of PFA young player of the year, declared that he will be fit to play in the second leg and Mourinho shouldn’t have any hesitation to draft him straight into the starting eleven.
This could be the possible Chelsea line up:
Prediction: 1-0; Atletico are unbeaten in their last 11 matches in the Champions League. However, at this stage of the competition, experience plays a major part and therefore I think Chelsea might just sneak a narrow victory.
