Leeds United have agreed on a deal with their highly rated defender Paudie O’Connor.
The 20-year-old defender has signed a two-year contract with the Championship outfit and the Whites have the option to extend his deal for another 12 months.
O’Connor is one of the most talented young players at the club and the fans will be delighted to see that Leeds are looking to secure their future stars.
The young defender made his senior debut for Leeds earlier this year against Sunderland. He went on to make three further first-team appearances against Preston North End, Aston Villa and Barnsley.
Since joining the club in 2017, he has managed to earn the captaincy of the U23 side as well.
O’Connor is tipped to have a big future at Elland Road and it will be interesting to see whether he can force his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s first team plans next season.
Speaking to the media after the extension, Director of Football Victor Orta said: “We are really pleased to see Paudie sign a new deal at the club, he has huge potential and we hope he will be a key player for Leeds United for many years to come, not only is he a good footballer, he also has the desire and attitude needed to take him to the top. Paudie is keen to play games, as every hungry young footballer should, so we will now look to send him out on loan for the forthcoming season.”

Thought he deserved longer than a 2 year deal but guess we’re trying not to dish out long contracts given what happened last season ?
