Paris Saint-Germain return to domestic action on Sunday following their 0-0 draw at home to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Laurent Blanc’s side failed to take advantage of a number of injuries throughout the Spanish giants side, but have now taken seven points without conceding a goal in their three Champions League matches as progression to the second round looks very favourable.

PSG start the weekend with a seven point lead over their nearest, realistic title rivals, Saint-Étienne, in fourth place. They are five points ahead of surprise starters Angers and Caen in second and third respectively.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Saint-Étienne ended a three-game losing streak in all competitions with a 2-0 win at home to bottom-of-the-league Gazélec Ajaccio last weekend. They were 1-0 winners at Dnipro on Thursday night but how much will their trip to Ukraine have taken out of them? They will have had 24 hours less to recoup and prepare for this weekend’s trip to the French capital.

Victory for Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday and you could arguably say they already have one hand on the trophy even if we’re only 11 games into the season.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Saint-Étienne Team News

Paris Saint-Germain team news

David Luiz is out with a knee injury picked up on international duty. Marquinhos played alongside Thiago Silva versus Real Madrid and we’d expect the Brazilian pair to start this weekend’s game too.

Saint-Étienne team news

Right-back Kévin Théophile-Catherine misses out through injury once again. The former Cardiff City defender hasn’t been fit since the end of August.

Christophe Galtier is also without three midfielders, each with a shirt number between 1-11. Benjamin Corgnet, Jérémy Clément and Renaud Cohade will all miss the trip to Paris. Clément is the biggest loss of this trio as he is experienced and a ball winner in the middle of the park.
