Olympiacos 0-1 Bordeaux
UEFA Champions League
23 February 2010
Bordeaux got a crucial away goal and a 1-0 lead after the first leg at Greece.
It was an even match but Olympiacos failed to score, which has been their achilles heel in the UEFA Champions League. Defensively both teams were strong in the group stage and continued that form in this match. Possession was about even (48-52 for Bordeaux) and Olympiacos had the lead in shots on goal (7-2).
The goal for Bordeaux came in the 45th minute from a free kick. It was a cross sent in the box from the left wing and headed into the back of the net by Michael Ciani. That would be the difference and Bordeux will now head back to France with a 1-0 aggregate lead. Olympiacos will have their work cut out for them to get a win at Bordeaux and advance to the quarterfinals.
