The website Football Leaks have disclosed Memphis Depay’s transfer contract to Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven today. They are on fire at the moment, after revealing yesterday Luis Suarez’s transfer agreement from Liverpool to Barcelona.
The document says United had signed a pre-agreement with Depay, a month earlier before he completed his move to Manchester United in June, 2015.
United paid €34m to sign the Dutch winger, of which €17m was payable at signing, while two instalments of €8.5m were to due to be paid in January and July, 2016 respectively.
The contract will see PSV getting an additional payment from the transfer, if the clauses are met.
The Dutch side will receive a €1.35m payment if Manchester United win the Premier League, and a sum of €325k should the Red Devils reach the semifinal stages of the Champions League. The amount will rise to €650k if United manage to reach the Champions League final, and €1.35m if they win the trophy.
Thus, PSV are expected to earn around €4m in the form of bonus payments from United.
Furthermore, United agreed to pay PSV up to €5m, or 10% of the difference of profit from the sale, should the club sell the Dutch winger for a handsome profit.
Depay, who earns around £90k-per-week, has had a mixed start to his career at United. He has shown flashes of brilliance in some matches, but in general hasn’t quite delivered as per the expectations. However, he is young and there is a plenty of room for his improvement. United fans can only hope that he will grow in a top class footballer in the future and justify his hefty price tag.
