Marseille v Real Madrid
Uefa Champions League
Tuesday, 8 December 2009
Kickoff: 20:45 CET

Real Madrid beat Marseille 3-0 at the Bernabeu earlier this season and Marseille will need to better that winning margin if they want a chance to progress to the next round in the Champions League.

Marseille have made a mess of things and their defeat at home to Milan earlier this season will come back to haunt them – their group rivals play away to Zurich where a relatively easy victory and progression to the second round awaits for the Rossoneri.

Marseille and Madrid go into this game on the back of wins in their respective leagues, and Madrid will be thankful that domestic bans don’t apply to Europe thus making Cristiano Ronaldo – sent off on the weekend – available for this fixture. Kaka is unlikely to make the squad given that he missed the previous league game and that Madrid will need their best players to be fit going into next weekend’s game as they chase Barcelona for the top spot.
