Manchester are interested in re-signing Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba this summer. The report has been covered by major media outlets in the UK like the Guardian and Sky Sports which suggest there is a fair bit of interest from the Red Devils to bring back their former midfielder.
However, United are not the only one vying for Pogba’s signature. According to widespread reports in Spain, Real Madrid are also seemingly interested in signing the French midfielder. Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, confirmed initial talks had taken place over a proposed move to Real Madrid last month, but as it stands United are going to put up a strong fight to lure him to Old Trafford.
The France midfielder, who scored in the 5-2 victory over Iceland in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, left United in 2012 on a free transfer to Juventus. He has spent four trophy-laden seasons at Turin where he won four Serie A titles and reached the Champions League final in 2014-15. During his stay in Italy, he has gradually developed himself into a world class midfielder and Juventus would demand in excess of £80m for him.
In Italy, Gazzetta dello Sport claim Jose Mourinho wants to move early ahead of other potential suitors and he is readying a €100m (£85.5m) offer for the Juventus midfielder.
Mourinho is reportedly a big fan of Pogba and has wanted to work with 23-year-old since he was at Chelsea. It seems like he still retains the interest and hopes to bring him to Manchester this summer.
Juventus have yet to receive any official offers for Pogba but Gazzetta suggest a bidding war between United and reported suitors Real Madrid could be imminent. In that case, Madrid have a better chance to sign Pogba. Not only Los Blancos can offer him Champions League football but Pogba would personally relish working under his idol, Zinedine Zidane.
