Roberto Mancini isn’t satisfied with the quality of the players available at Manchester City, especially in central midfield.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport:
“I need players. I hope that Vieira will be fit soon and perhaps Real Madrid will give me Fernando Gago.
Maybe Milan will give me Mathieu Flamini…”
Maybe the players you have right now will start playing to their potential too. I like how City have made a habit of bringing in disaffected players with a point to prove – not all of the transfers were like that of course, and not all such transfers have worked out well, but if you’re going to sign someone it might as well be a player who wants a second chance to prove their worth.
Gago has found regular action limited with the Spanish giants and has been linked with a January switch. Flamini has failed to become a regular starter since he joined Milan in 2008 and is keen to feature regularly in the coming months to ensure he features in France’s World Cup squad. If only he’d stayed at Arsenal, he’d be top of the table now…
