The second Manchester Derby of the season is upon us and both sides will be looking for the three points for very different reasons.
Manchester City are well behind Leicester and Tottenham in the title race and cannot afford to drop any more points. Whereas Manchester United could still finish in the top four and will want to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been extremely inconsistent against the top teams this season and they will be quite nervous going into this one.
The home side are without two of their best players in Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure. Both players are ruled out with injuries.
Meanwhile, Manchester United need a statement win after a series of poor performances over the last few weeks. The Old Trafford outfit lost against West Brom and Liverpool and drew against West Ham in their last 4 matches.
Louis Van Gaal’s side crashed out of the Europa League against Liverpool yesterday and the Dutchman will need a few big wins to get the fans back on his side.
Sunday’s derby is the perfect opportunity for both sides to establish their title/top four credentials.
