Rafa Benitez returns to Anfield once again as Newcastle United take on Liverpool in their battle for survival in top flight football this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will be looking to secure a morale-boosting win over the Magpies before their Europa League semi-finals against Villarreal next week.

Liverpool have been in excellent form over the last couple of months and apart from the shock defeat against Southampton, Klopp’s men have been pretty dominant against all of their opponents.

After their 4-0 win over Everton in the Derby yesterday, they will be full of confidence heading into this one.

Klopp will be looking to rest some of his key stars after the midweek tie but Liverpool have enough to get past a hapless Newcastle side.

Newcastle did well against Manchester City at home, but they will need to improve significantly if they want to take something away from Anfield this week.

five things to watch out for

Team News

Liverpool’s win over Everton was overshadowed by Divock Origi’s injury in the second half. The Belgian has been in scintillating form but is likely to miss the rest of the season due to a horror tackle from Funes Mori of Everton.

Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez, Christian Benteke and Danny Ings are still sidelined and are unlikely to return this season.

Emre Can is out for a few weeks as well and is likely to return for the Europa League finals if the Reds manage to get past Villarreal.

Just like Liverpool, Newcastle are also plagued with injuries at the moment and Rafa Benitez will be without nine first-team stars for the trip to Anfield.

Krul, Toney, Haidara, Good, Elliot, Mbabu, Coloccini, Janmaat, Taylor are all ruled out.
