Newcastle United suffered an heartbreak at the Molineux Stadium on Monday night as Wolves snatched a late equalizer to deny them of what would have been a valuable win.
The Magpies bagged the opener 11 minutes into the second half through Isaac Hayden, and were seconds away from securing their seventh win of the Premier League season and move three points clear the drop zone.
However, Wolves’ Willy Boly headed in the hosts’ goal, although he appeared to have fouled Martin Dubravka in the process.
Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports Monday Night Football: “It wasn’t a foul, and you have to give great credit to Wolves and Boly. Dubravka has been a great goalkeeper for Newcastle, but has made a few mistakes of late. Boly’s hands are resting on the goalkeeper’s shoulders but that is it. The goalkeeper does not cover himself in glory, and not for the first time in the last few weeks.”
Patrick Kluivert: “The goalkeeper needs to defend himself. He jumps up and has to get a punch at it. He has to jump earlier – why does he want to try and catch the ball?”
Dubravka cost Newcastle a point against Tottenham last time out after his error gifted Heung-Min Son a late winner, and he has to cut out the mistakes if the Magpies are to survive the drop this term.
The Slovakia has been an inspired addition to the team since arriving over a year ago and can be expected to bounce back immediately and put his recent errors behind him.
