Paisley Park perhaps the Newbury NAP
While Calvin isn’t in the Paisley Park camp for the feature Long Distance Hurdle, both Chapman and Fitzy say it could be worth giving Emma Lavelle’s stable star one more chance here. A winner of this 3m contest two years ago, only Thyme Hill proved too good for him here last season.
Punters will have probably realised by now that Paisley Park hits a flat spot in his races before rallying late on. That second wind has often come after the bird has flown, but Lavelle uses first-time cheekpieces on him here. The hope is that they sharpen Paisley Park up and eke out some improvement.
He meets Wetherby West Yorkshire Hurdle winner Indefatigable off better terms here at Newbury too. That could be a big factor in who comes out on top in their rematch. Paisley Park is the recommended punt for Chappers and Fitzgerald here, while Calvin chances are unreliable Lisnagar Oscar each way.
