Former Scottish international Alan Hutton believes that Celtic might struggle to keep Jeremie Frimpong at the club beyond this summer.
The youngster has done very well for the first team and several teams will be monitoring his progress.
Hutton claims that the 19-year-old may not be at the club next season.
He said to Football Insider: “There will be people round about keeping an eye on Frimpong, for sure. He’s exciting to watch and that’s what fans want.
“From the outside looking in, a player who’s playing in my position, it’s good to see players like that – attacking, no fear going forward and getting back, setting up goals.
“He’s definitely one for the future, he’s very, very young, an exciting talent who’s only going to get better.”
Asked if Frimpong will be at Celtic next season, Hutton replied: “He may not, no.”
Losing him would be a huge blow for the Hoops. Celtic rely on developing talented young players like Frimpong and moving them on for big money in future.
The 19-year-old moved to Celtic only last summer and he has a lot to offer. He could improve a lot more with time and experience.
Selling him a few years down the line will fetch Celtic a lot more money. Also, keeping him would give Lennon a quality young player to use for the next few years.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer.
Celtic will be reluctant to sell a prodigious talent like Frimpong. However, if a considerable offer comes in, it could complicate matters.
It seems that Celtic could be set for a difficult summer transfer window. Key players like Edouard have also been linked with a move away from the club.
