Ander Herrera is unhappy with his role in the squad and is set for showdown talks with manager Louis Van Gaal.
The Spaniard has impressed since joining from Athletic Bilbao, but has had very few chances to showcase his talent under Louis Van Gaal.
The Dutchman has preferred more defensive central midfielders this season and Herrera has fallen down the pecking orders after the arrival of Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin this summer.
According to Daily Star, the player is set to have a discussion with the manager regarding his first team role soon.
Daily Star have quoted their source saying: “Ander is worried about his lack of progress at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal.
“He feels like he’s lost his identity as a player and doesn’t know what his role is anymore.
“His situation appears to be getting worse and he’s worried his career is going backwards, so there will have to be a chat with the manager.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United chief scout Peter Braund was spotted scouting Borja Valero of Fiorentina. The 30 year old central midfielder is regarded as one of the best in Serie A and the Old Trafford outfit are apparently interested in him.
Herrera is already worried about the number of central midfielders at the club. Signing Valero could be the final nail in the coffin for the Spanish midfielder.
