Well, it’s time for another bombshell from the Spanish media.

Over the past 12 months, we at Soccerlens have lost count of the number of times, British tabloids and newspapers reported Chelsea’s interest in Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, with many claiming their stories (how silly it looks) as ‘Exclusive’.

Diego Costa

Spanish media rather has concentrated more on the future of Thibaut Courtois. While the Blues are still not ready to embrace the Belgian as their first choice keeper at the moment, Atletico are keen to secure his services.

Back in December, El Confidencial, reported that Atletico boss Diego Simeone is willing to allow Costa to complete a move to Stamford Bridge – but only if Courtois goes the other way.

Talking about Exclusives, just how silly and ridiculous it is for Daily Star to claim this story as their own in February, when they simply rehashed the story published in Spain (as you can see), two months earlier!

Now, the same Spanish newspaper that has a strong connection with Real Madrid, claims that Chelsea have already agreed a deal to sign the highly rated striker, who has scored 26 league goals this season.

The last two seasons (including the present campaign) has been phenomenal for the 25-year-old, as a result of which, his release clause soared high to €60m. The newspaper claims – a) Chelsea have agreed a deal with the Rojiblancos b) are willing to pay his €60m release clause.

Chelsea have issues with the strikers and Jose Mourinho has openly revealed his frustrations on more than one occasions this season. The Blues are expected to invest heavily in the market for a striker, while all of their present strikers could be sold.

To be honest, I can see the deal is happening in the summer, irrespective of the fact Atletico win the La Liga or the Champions League The money Atletico could receive for the player is huge which will help Simeone to rebuild the squad again.

For Costa, testing himself at a different league is as tempting as the big money offer Chelsea would put on the table.

Do inform us, if any British tabloid claims it as an ‘Exclusive’ next time!
