Bologna striker Mattia Destro has claimed that is eager to join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
The former Chelsea manager has apparently agreed to take over at Old Trafford at the end of the season and will be looking to add a striker to his side.
Destro has had a stop-start career so far and he believes that working with Mourinho could be beneficial for him as a player.
The striker has worked with Mourinho previously at Inter Milan.
“To be able to train with champions and with a coach like Mourinho made me mature and prepared me to make a giant step into real football,” he said.
“If he called me to Man United? I’d like to see myself in that situation.”
The Italian international is quite talented and although he has not developed as expected, Mourinho has worked with him and knows his strengths. Destro could be a valuable addition to the Manchester United squad who are lacking a poacher right now.
The Bologna star could be a like-to-like replacement for Javier Hernandez and will add goals to the side from the bench or in cup games.
Mourinho is expected to replace Van Gaal and there should be a massive overhaul at Manchester United in terms of transfers. It will be interesting to see if the Portuguese manager opts for the Italian as a back up option for Rooney and Martial.
According to reports over the last few weeks, Jose Mourinho has already agreed a 3 year deal with the Premier League giants.
