David De Gea’s future at Manchester United has been subject to intense speculation, ever since it was reported that the former Atleti keeper has been earmarked as a replacement for Iker Casillas.

Earlier this season, Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal confirmed that the club were trying their best to convince De Gea against a Real Madrid move. However, the Dutchman insisted that the final decision rests with the player.

Van Gaal also confirmed that the Spanish keeper has been offered a mega-money deal to stay at Old Trafford, somewhere in the region of 200,000 pounds per week.

According to recent reports in the English media, De Gea has refused to sign a new deal at United and is set to join the Los Blancos this summer.

David De Gea was pictured on a flight to Madrid earlier this week, which fuelled rumours that the Manchester United star took some time off to sign for Real Madrid.

According to Spanish publication MarcaDavid De Gea has indeed agreed terms with Real Madrid. The Manchester United keeper will be earning around 8 million euros a year and will commit to a five year contract.

De Gea has undoubtedly been the best player at the club this season and played a crucial role in steering the Reds back to Champions League. The likes of Begovic and Lloris have been touted as his replacements in the English media.

Although his departure would be a bitter blow for Van Gaal and the fans, United are well placed to sign a proper replacement, especially now they have the promise of Champions League football.

Signing De Gea would be a massive coup for Real Madrid, who will be getting a world class player, for a reasonable price, in a position they have struggled in.
