Pundit Danny Mills has revealed that Celtic are aware of the fact that Odsonne Edouard will leave the club at the end of this season.
He believes that the transfer is ‘inevitable’ and Celtic will be having a few replacements in mind.
He also added that it is important to plan ahead for key departures.
Mills said to Football Insider: “They know it is inevitable. When the Premier League or La Liga come knocking there is every chance you will lose out because financially they cannot compete. Whether you like it or not that is a fact.
“Football is not just about money but it is a huge factor. It is probably like Southampton. They have to make sure they have replacements ready. When you are Celtic you have to have a plan for the future.
“They will have two or three lined up to replace Edouard. People will be in mind because if the big boys come in the likelihood is they are going to lose people.”
Edouard has been in sensational form this season and he has been linked with Premier League clubs recently.
It will be interesting to see if Celtic receive any offers for him at the end of this season.
Edouard has shown that he is capable of playing in a top European league and therefore the interest in him is hardly surprising.
If a top club comes in for him at the end of this season, he is likely to be tempted. He needs to make the step up at this stage of his career and a move to the Premier League would be ideal for him.
Edouard has scored 28 goals in all competitions for Celtic this season and his departure would be a huge loss for the Hoops. It will be interesting to see how they replace him if the striker decides to move on.
