Nathan Ake is set to return to Chelsea from his loan spell at Bournemouth. Chelsea have the option to bring him back before the end of this season and they are expected to exercise that option soon.

The young defender has been outstanding for Eddie Howe‘s side this season and has scored some crucial goals as well. Eddie Howe has confirmed that Chelsea are likely to cut short his loan spell this month. Howe added that it would be a huge blow for Bournemouth because of how well Ake was performing since the start of the season.

He said:

It looks like that will be the case that they will call him back, it’s not 100% finalised yet. That would be a huge blow for us and with Nathan going back our defensive resources would be stretched. It would be a huge blow to us as he’s done so well.

Apparently, Antonio Conte wants to add more defensive depth to his side. Recently the Italian claimed that Ake is a very good player and he is evaluating the player’s situation.

He said:

Aké is a really good player and now in the last five games he’s started to play with Bournemouth and is playing every game. Honestly, I’m evaluating his situation, because Aké could be an interesting opportunity in this window, yes, for us.

Kurt Zouma has returned from injury and is expected to be a part of Conte’s first team plans once he is match fit.

The Blues have had a fantastic season so far and the addition of Ake and Zouma will only make them stronger. They have been linked with a few midfielders as well and if Chelsea can strengthen on that front, they will remain firm favourites to lift the title in May.
