According to reports in Portuguese website Maisefutebol, Chelsea are set to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago on a free transfer. The 33 year old played a key part in the Rojiblancos’ La Liga triumph and their way to the Champions league final against eventual winners Real Madrid all the way to Lisbon.
Tiago also had offers from nouveau French side Monaco and Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg but the player decided on a reunion with manager Jose Mourinho.
The news has also been confirmed by Portuguese journalist from Diario de Noticias who took to Twitter to confirm the deal.
The difference between what Monaco and Zenit offered to Tiago to what he’ll receive in CFC is huge. Still he prefered to go back to Chelsea.

The transfer marks the return of the player to Stamford Bridge after his unsuccessful first spell at London in the 2004/05 season before being eventually shipped off to French side Lyon.
It is believed that Mourinho is desperate to beef up his options in his squad ahead of the coming season as he prepares to mount a title challenge with his already impressive outfit in London.
