Chelsea are looking to sign the German centre back Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia.

The La Liga defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League all summer. London giants Arsenal are also interested in the player.

Wenger wants to sign Mustafi as a replacement for the injured Mertesacker.

Mustafi has impressed with Valencia and Germany over the last couple of years and both Chelsea and Arsenal are willing to bring him back to the Premier League this summer. The former Everton defender is expected to cost around 30 million Euros.

According to latest reports, Arsenal have already been in touch with Mustafi’s representatives and Valencia are willing to sell the player as well. The report adds that Conte wants a centre back this summer and has a strong interest in the La Liga star.

However, Chelsea are desperate for a centre back as well and are looking to hijack Arsenal’s move for the German international.

Mustafi arrived in England yesterday to join up with his teammates for pre-season. Valencia will play Bournemouth and Palace as a part of their pre-season preparations in the next few days.

Considering the player is in UK already, it will be easier to complete a deal if either club can agree a fee.

The money should not be an issue for either club and it might come down to the player’s preference if both clubs agree a deal with Valencia.
