Atletico Madrid have already sold two of their best players of last season to Chelsea. Diego Costa and Filipe Luis have already joined the London club but it seems Chelsea are looking to add one more Atletico player to their ranks.
According to reports from Catalan newspaper Sport, Chelsea are looking to snap up a deal for Brazilian central defender Miranda and have offered €20m to secure his services. Atletico are not keen to sell him and are asking any potential suitors to pay his full €30m release clause.
Miranda was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. AS reported back in May that Brazilian has already started looking for schools for his children in Manchester, with United ready to trigger his €30m release clause.
Barcelona had shown an interest in him too but it seems they have shifted their attention elsewhere. Miranda himself claimed last month that he has had offers from Spain and England and that a negotiation has been in progress.
“I have some offers and we are negotiating,” he told Brazil’s Radio Espn.
“I have offers from Spanish and English leagues and from some less important ones too.
“My agent is in Europe to decide my future, my buy-out fee at Atletico Madrid is €30million, but that can be negotiated.”
Manchester United and Chelsea both need a good central defender to their ranks in the summer. It remains to be seen whether any of these top clubs agree to the buy-out clause for the 29-year-old defender.
