Is the mass exodus set to continue at Atletico Madrid? After Diego Costa and Filipe Luis left for the greener pastures of Stamford Bridge, French daily Le 10 Sport claim that Chelsea have joined Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Diego Godin from the La Liga winners.

Uruguayan daily Ovacion have also confirmed the Blues interest in the 28 year old. Manager Diego Simeone rates the central defender as one of his most important players in the squad and Godin himself had earlier said that he will be with the Rojiblancos after signing a contract till 2018.

“Of course I’ll still be in Madrid next season. It is a pride but I have a contract and I feel good. I still have four years of the contract. There is always interest, especially when things are going well at the club. You expect there to be rumours about players. It’s flattering, but I’m under contract and am happy in Madrid.”

However Spanish daily MARCA had earlier reported that Atletico have received two different bids from a German and a English club for the centre back. The offers however were in the range of €20m which is well below the price tag that Atletico have set for the player.

It is clear that Diego Simeone wouldn’t be inclined to part with his prized asset but if a club matches the player’s  €36m transfer release clause, it would be hard for the last year Champions League runners up to reject the enticing offer.
