Filipe Luis has endured a misadventure in England ever since his move to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in the summer. The Brazilian who was signed for £16m has hardly made an impact for the Stamford Bridge side. The 29 year old has featured in just 11 Premier League appearances, out of which only six times has been a starting eleven berth.
Luis has struggled to displace Cesar Azpilicueta as a first choice left back given that the Spaniard has been in impeccable form. Reports from French media outlet Le 10 Sport have now cited Madrid based newspaper Marca claiming that that Luiz could return to Atletico in the summer.
It is believed that Atletico will be more than happy in taking back their former player to the Vicente Calderon Stadium. The reports states that the Spanish side are in the market for a left back and would be willing to take back their former player.
However, Chelsea would demand the same £16m figure what they paid to the Spanish side last summer. Also Chelsea could use Luis as bait to land Koke thus providing Atletico an enticing offer. It will be thus interesting to see if the Rojiblancos are willing to sell one of their key midfielders for a 29 year old defender who is certainly in the twilight of his career.
