Chelsea are thought to be lining up a move for the Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.
The French forward has been sensational for the La Liga giants since joining them from Real Sociedad and is a target for several European heavyweights.
According to Mirror, Griezmann is now a priority signing for Chelsea who are keen to improve their strike-force in January.
The report also states that Diego Costa’s strained relation with Jose Mourinho could be a reason why the Chelsea manager has opted to go for the Frenchman in January.
The Atletico Madrid star is valued at around 25 million pounds and Chelsea are willing to pay up.
The versatile young forward has been one of Europe’s most efficient marksmen over the last year and would be a tremendous addition to the Chelsea attack.
Alongside Hazard, Pedro and Willian, Griezmann could form a formidable quartet and take Chelsea back to where they belong.
It is highly unlikely that Atletico Madrid would be willing to part with their best player in the middle of the season, especially now that they are in the mix for the title.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea do follow up on their interest with a formal offer in January. Even if they agree to meet the asking price, a summer transfer looks more likely.
