Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the appointment of Bruno Lage as their new manager.
The 45-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the club as a replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo.
According to The Athletic, Lage was recommended to the Premier League club by agent Jorge Mendes who has close ties with the Molineux outfit.
Wolves were linked with Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard but they have chosen to appoint the Portuguese manager.
Lage guided Benfica to the league title during the 2018/19 season and he will be keen to succeed in the Premier League club.
He has revealed that it is his ambition to build on what Nuno has done at Molineux to date.
Nuno established Wolves in the top flight and Lage will be expected to drive the club towards the European qualification places.
Lage is an ambitious manager with progressive ideas and he will be looking to bring high intensity attacking football with him to Molineux next season.
He will also be tasked with nurturing the young talents at the club and the fans will certainly be looking forward to next season under his management.
Here is how some Wolves fans have reacted to Lage’s appointment.
Welcome Bruno. Good luck! Hopefully a decent refresh of the squad, sort the defence out, bring back Mir and play more attractive football and a sense of optimism will return

Crikey, what a gamble (and certainly one we wouldn’t have made were it not for our sporting director, Jorge) – however, welcome to club, Bruno!!
