Celtic take on Valencia in the Europa League during the midweek and Brendan Rodgers hopes that Oliver Burke will be fit and ready for the big game.

The January signing has been in red hot form for Celtic so far and Rodgers believes that he could frighten the opposition on Thursday.

The Celtic boss heaped praise on the on-loan attacker and claimed that Burke’s pace could cause all sorts of problems for Valencia’s defenders. He also hailed the WBA player’s pressing.

He said: “Oli took a knock to his ankle. We hope he’ll be okay. You see his intensity and the threat he gives us. He was absolutely fantastic. He should be okay for Thursday. Oli has shown and started to progress as we thought he could. He has wonderful attributes and his pressing sets a real tone. He’ll be difficult to play against because the one thing that frightens defenders is pace. The speed he showed for Scott Sinclair first goal and the second one in behind is frightening, really. It’s a joy to watch a Scottish player with that physicality and quality. There are things that he continues to work on, but he’s doing exceptionally well and he has to
keep improving.”

Burke has already managed to establish himself as a key player for Celtic and he could make a huge difference to their season if he manages to stay fit.

The 21-year-old has scored 3 goals in six games for the Scottish giants so far. If he keeps up his current form, Celtic might just try to sign him on a permanent deal.

Burke struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at WBA and if things go well at Celtic, he might be tempted to make his stay permanent as well.

Rodgers could be the ideal manager to bring out the best in him and help fulfill his potential.
