When you cannot compete with someone, best way to gain advantage is to destabilise them. Atletico Madrid have shown the world that wonders can be done through splashing ridiculous bucks.
However, such is the cruel modern world, the have’s with financial muscle are eager to take the cream from the have nots. If the reports are to be believed Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United are targeting at least six Atletico players combined – enough to break the spine of any good team!
Chelsea are long interested in Atletico Madrid duo Diego Costa and Filipe Luis. While several reports in England and Spain suggest that Costa is all but completed, Chelsea may need to fork out extra bucks to lure Brazilian defender Filipe Luis.
The Blues badly need a left-back in the summer to replace veteran Ashley Cole and have targeted the 28-year-old. According to Spanish newspaper AS, Luis’s agent has said that Jose Mourinho is interested in his client but the Rohiblancos do not want to sell as they look to keep the spine of their successful season as intact as possible.
Mourinho was particularly impressed after the Champions League semifinals, but it will take a massive offer for Atletico to consider it and for the player himself to consider leaving the club that made him a star and a city where he reportedly enjoys living.
