Atletico Madrid have rejected a massive €65m offer for Koke from Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the summer, according to reports from Marca.
Koke, the 23-year-old Spain international has been a long term target of Premier League champions Chelsea, and the Blues did make an attempt to sign the Atletico midfielder this summer.
The Blues were also heavily linked with a move for Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann, but Atletico did best to keep hold of their star players.
Having said that, for the second successive season, Chelsea and Atletico have been involved in transfer dealings between them. Chelsea allowed Filipe Luis to re-join his former club, after the Brazilian defender spent just one season at the London club.
Koke has always stated that he wants to stay at Atletico, and here again he showed his commitment to Los Rojiblancos once again. Marca claim that several teams have shown an interest in Koke, and even clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich have offered up to €60m, but Atletico convinced the player to stay put.
Meanwhile Jose Mourinho has confirmed in the press conference yesterday that Chelsea need a left back in the summer. If the reports are to believed, Chelsea have already agreed personal deal with Abdul Rahman Baba, but the club have yet to agree transfer deal with Bundesliga club Augsburg.
Mourinho is optimistic that the deal will go through eventually, without mentioning the name of the player. Coming back to Koke, it seems like big Premier League clubs need to pay over €65m for Koke. Atletico really values the player while the Spaniard is equally committed to the project. It would take a massive, massive offer to tempt Atletico into negotiating a deal for Koke. May be next year?
