The Telegraph reported yesterday that Chelsea are close to agreeing deals for Atletico Madrid duo – Filipe Luis and Diego Costa. The English newspaper claim that talks have gone on smoothly between all parties, and that both moves have been agreed.
Spanish newspaper Sport claims that Costa have already signed for Chelsea and the deal will be announced after the Champions League final.
The Blues will pay €40m to secure his services and Costa will be handed a five-year-contract at the club, where the Brazilian born will earn €4m/year.
The Catalan newspapers claims that the deal was concluded on Wednesday, when Atletico visited Stamford Bridge to play the semi-final return leg in the Champions League. Officials of both the clubs met after the match with the representatives of Costa to finish all the transfer details which could also include Fernando Torres returning back to his home club.
Costa has been in prolific form this season, scoring 27 league goals and Mourinho wants him to spear head the attacking line-up, as he looks to sculpt the squad to his own taste. His arrival could mean the departures of both Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba.
