Divock Origi’s injury is not severe as it was feared early, with the striker likely to miss up to four weeks of action and should be fit for Euro 2016.

The Belgian striker was stretchered off after he buckled under a poor challenge from Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori in Liverpool’s 4-0 win against their derby rivals at Anfield in April.

Initially feared that he would miss the rest of season along with Emre Can and Jordan Henderson, but fresh reports suggest that he could make his return before the summer.

According to Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, who works for HLN.BE, Origi does not require a surgery and he should return to full fitness before Euro 2016.

Terreur claims that Origi “will be out for 3-4 weeks & will be fit in time for the Euros”, further adding only one of his ankle ligaments has been ruptured, the “second one is fine”.

If Origi is to miss three weeks of action (considering the minimum period of his recovery) there is a high chance that he could return before the end of the season. In such a scenario, he would have an outside chance of playing the Europa League final, provided Liverpool make it past Villarreal in the semi-finals.

Blessed with pace and excellent technical abilities, the 21-year-old has really flourished under Klopp, since taking up a prominent role in the attack in recent months. Origi was enjoying a rich vein of form before the ankle injury had put an end to his goal scoring spree: he scored five goals in his last five games.

The news comes as a positive boost for Liverpool fans, but Klopp would probably not rush him to the first team straight away.
