Last week, Rooney’s goal against Portsmouth – that crazy chip that secured Manchester United’s spot in the 5th round of the FA Cup – was taken by many as a sign that Wayne Rooney was back in form for Manchester United.
Last night, Rooney gave us a hint of things to come with another moment of training ground craziness as he controlled a Ronaldo lob and then lobbed the keeper without so much so as breaking his stride.
An in-form Rooney, an on-fire Ronaldo and the sublime Larsson (who has settled in immediately and made a mockery out of all his doubters) – Manchester are well-set for the season run-in. With 13 games left (3 of them away games to Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool), Manchester United will need Rooney in form.
It was only Watford and Rooney would never have gotten that much space (nor would Ronaldo have gotten that much time) against a decent defence, but like Portsmouth last week, it’s another sign of the player’s class and hopefully he will get into the habit of scoring goals for fun for Manchester United and England.
