The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden reported couple of days back that Manchester United are ready to battle Chelsea for the signing of this highly rated young left-back, who graduated from the Saint’s youth academy.
The Mirror earlier reported that Manchester United had made a £22.5 million offer for Southampton prodigy, while Chelsea are also plotting to make a counter-bid, with transfer value could rise up to £30m.
Having already signed Mata and almost securing a long-term contract for Wayne Rooney, United manager David Moyes has shifted his attention to completing a deal for Shaw.
Meanwhile, Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that the youngster won’t be sold in the January transfer window or in the summer. “At this moment, Southampton have no interest in selling Luke Shaw,” Pochettino said as quoted by Sky Sports.
“Not in the summer, either. Southampton have got a lot of expectation put in Luke’s future and we have no intention of selling him.
“What is clear is that Southampton believe in these players, want these players, and we have no intention of selling them.”
Now, according to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are also interested in the youngster and have asked Southampton to keep them informed.
Liverpool’s first choice left-back Jose Enrique is out injured and missed a major part of the season, while his deputy Aly Cissokho, who joined on loan, has cut a sorrow figure to a huge extent. The Reds need a solid left-back in January or in summer and therefore could try their luck for young Shaw.
