Manchester United are close to signing Torino full back Matteo Darmian, as per reports in Italy. Reputed Sky Italia journalist Gianluca di Marzio claimed yesterday that Manchester United had reached a personal agreement with Darmian, but had yet to agree a deal with Torino.
The Times now reporting today that Manchester United have agreed a £12.5m transfer fee with Torino to sign Matteo Darmian, who is versatile enough to play either as a full back or centre back.
United have offered to treble his wages to about £45,000-a-week. Italian media however reporting that a deal with the club hasn’t been agreed yet. United have had an agreement with the player’s agent and not with the club. Darwin’s camp is happy to have received such an offer and they have gleefully accepted it.
Talks are ongoing at the moment and there could be more developments today. Calciomercato says the deal is very close and that it ‘could’ be sealed by today, though it is unlikely.
Torino are demanding a fee in the region of €18m plus €2m bonuses. While the Times are claiming that a deal has been agreed between the two clubs, Italian media claims that it is close to happening but the deal hasn’t been accepted yet (there is a slight difference in the manner of reporting) although they expect Torino to come to terms with United within days.
