Inter Milan are sitting 11th in the table and have little chances of qualifying for Europe next season, which could see some of their star players leaving the club including Icardi.
The 22-year-old, who has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season, has yet to sign a new contract at the club, and Inter would be better off selling him to the highest bidder.
Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Icardi’s future will be decided within March, after Inter have given an ultimatum to the player’s agent.
His situation is very delicate: the player wants to earn around €3m per annum including image rights, the proposition that is becoming complex within the club day by day.
Inter have offered him a renewal contract, but as of now, he has yet to sign a new deal. In that situation, Inter could be ready to bid him farewell, with Chelsea in pole position to sign the Argentine, who would cost around €30m.
Real Madrid were also thought to be interested in him and could also make a move should Benzema leave the club in summer.
