Mikkel Damsgaard has impressed heavily in the European Championships for Denmark.

The 20-year-old was brought into the starting line-up following Christian Eriksen’s shock collapse in the first game against Finland.

Damsgaard played well against Belgium and produced a virtuoso performance against Russia, scoring a wonder goal from the edge of the area to send Denmark through to the knockout stage.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the highly-rated attacking midfielder, while Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen.

According to the Daily Mail, Sampdoria want to create a bidding war between the three interested parties.

Last week, journalist Ekrem Konur claimed that Tottenham have already contacted the Italian club regarding a transfer.

He was superb for Sampdoria last season, scoring two goals and registering four assists.

Damsgaard can play multiple roles across the midfield and has the potential to develop into a top-class player in future.

He has a contract with Sampdoria until 2024, and the Italian club want a premium fee, especially after his brilliant performances at Euro 2020.

His price is rapidly increasing with every passing week. Last week, Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero revealed it would take £27 million to sign Damsgaard.

He has now said that the asking price has almost doubled. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness), Ferrero said: “I don’t know how much he is worth because he’s not for sale.

“We’ll think about when his value will have reached €50m. Now, I want him to make him grow some more.”

Spurs, who are still without a manager, will now find it very hard to lure him to the Premier League.
