Everton winger, Yannick Bolasie, says that Crystal Palace forward, Wilfried Zaha has footballing ability like Neymar.
Zaha joined Palace from Manchester United in 2015 after a difficult time at Old Trafford. Since then, he has steadily developed into a top player for the club. This season, Zaha has been brilliant for the Eagles so far, scoring four goals and providing six assists in the Premier League.
Bolasie rates his former colleague highly and compared Zaha to one of the world’s top players – Barcelona superstar, Neymar.
He said, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
I do think the penny has dropped for him and, as a player – development-wise, I think with the right coach the guy’s got ability of someone like Neymar. I’d got that far.
Neymar’s at Barca so it’s hard to compare… but the ability he’s got, it’s up there.
Well, certainly it is a huge compliment for the 24-year-old forward, but to be fair the comparison was not apt. The problem is, there are lots of players in the world that are blessed with great technical ability, but merely having abilities does not make a player as good as Neymar, Suarez, Messi or say Ronaldo.
Zaha is a good player, no doubt, but he still has a lot to prove. It is one thing to demonstrate your skills and perform at a good level with Crystal Palace; to replicate it for as big a club as Barcelona is quite another. Zaha got the chance to show his talent for United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and he failed miserably.
Bolasie also adds that England will regret missing out on his talents. Zaha, who has two England caps, chose to represent Ivory Coast instead. He is in the Ivorian squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
