Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso has ended speculation linking him with a move back to the Premier League by finalising a two-year contract extension with Real Madrid.
The 32-year-old had been rumoured to be considering a January move away from the Bernabéu, with Chelsea and Liverpool reportedly looking to swoop for the play-maker, as his contract was set to expire at the end of the current season.
But Alonso has now committed his future to ‘Los Blancos’, scuppering the English duo’s plans, and surely delighting the Real faithful.

Liverpool, the Spaniard’s former stomping ground, have looked likely to add to their squad this month, but will have to search elsewhere for midfield reinforcement with Real tying Alonso down until 2016.
Chelsea have been linked with a few midfielders this January, with talks continuing with primary target, Fredy Guarin of Inter Milan.
What do you think? Will the duo get another chance to sign the Spaniard? Let me know in the comments below…
