It is quite apparent that both Chelsea and Wolfsburg want the Andre Schurrle transfer to the German club to go through. The winger has been left out of the squad by Jose Mourinho in the last couple of games that Chelsea have played. An agreement between the two clubs has been getting closer and closer in the past few days.

Now, on the last day of the January transfer window, a slight issue has arisen on the most important aspect of the deal: the cost. According to Bild, the basic transfer fee for the player is €32 million (a club record fee for Wolfsburg), all the amounts they will need to pay as add-ons total upto €66 million.

This includes a salary of €6 million per year to be paid upto 2019, €5 million in bonuses and €2 million to be paid to Schurrle’s consultant. Wolfsburg manager Klaus Allofs has said that an agreement is yet to be reached with regards to the exorbitant amount the Bundesliga outfit will have to pay.

“We have not yet reached an agreement with Chelsea. It lies on the money”, Allofs said.

If the deal goes through, it will break Wolfsburg’s record fee of €22 million that they paid to sign Kevin de Bruyne, also from Chelsea, last January. The Belgian has been in magnificent form this season, scoring 8 and assisting 14 in all competitions. He scored a brace at the weekend, as Wolfsburg thrashed defending champions Bayern Munich 4-1.

The Germans now have until midnight to get Schurrle on their transfer list. If they are unable to do so, he will remain at Stamford Bridge until the summer at least.
