While the Chilean has done a reasonably good job at the Etihad Stadium, City simply couldn’t afford to let Guardiola move to a Premier League rival and made the right decision to approach the Spaniard almost immediately after he announced that he would be leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the campaign.
Manchester City are already a very good side but Pep will almost certainly take them to the next level. Domestically, City have won everything on offer but the Champions League remains their ultimate target. Ahead of their last-16 clash with Dynamo Kyiv, City are priced at 12/1 to win the competition with Coral.
Europe’s elite club competition is within City’s sights but they are yet to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. In recent years, they have been knocked out by Barcelona and will be hoping for better luck in the future. If anyone can lead them to the promised land of European glory, it’s Pep.
Simply put, Guardiola is a winner. During six and a half years of management, he has won 19 trophies – an incredible achievement. The Spaniard led Barcelona to the treble in 2011 and has continued to attract plenty of media attention during his time in Germany.
At City, he will be keen to build a dynasty and could remain at the club for a prolonged period, especially if he is able to put his own stance on proceedings at the Etihad. Guardiola is an exceptional manager and City’s rivals should be very wary of the Blues next season.
