Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is attracting the attention from Italian giants Juventus, according to reports from The Mirror.
The 20-year-old, who was signed from Anderlecht for a reported fee of £18m in 2011, has been sent on a season long loan again, this time to Everton. It is understood that the player is bitterly disappointed at not being a part of the Chelsea squad this time around, despite impressing his new manager Jose Mourinho in the pre-season.
Mourinho himself said in the pre-season that Lukaku will be given chances to shine at Stamford Bridge this season, but following the arrival of Samuel Eto’o in the summer, and the failure to ship out Demba Ba meant, Lukaku had to go out on loan again.
Chelsea perceive Lukaku as a long-term prospect at the club, but Juventus feel they have a chance here. Lukaku has recently switched agents from Christophe Henrotay to Italian agent Mino Raiola.
Raiola has a strong connection with several Serie A clubs and he is one the influential figures who helped Paul Pogba to move to Juventus from Manchester United. He is famous for concluding difficult deals for his clients and Juventus might be hoping that Raiola would help them secure yet another deal for Premier League and Europe’s one of the brightest prospects.
Lukaku meanwhile has started the season brightly at Everton and after his sizzling performance against Newcastle United questions were asked whether Chelsea were right to send the Belgian out on loan this time.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that Lukaku has no recall clause, so the Toffees will use him to the fullest for the entire season.
