Manchester United new manager Louis van Gaal has asked/requested/whatever Wesley Sneijder to join him at Old Trafford and the player is thought to be interested as well. According to Catalan newspaper Sport, the Dutchman is plotting a move to get himself out of Galatasaray and join Manchester United in the summer.
The 30-year-old, like Garay and Gaitan is a perennial candidate, who has been getting linked with Manchester United in any of the transfer windows, for the past three-four years. United were heavily interested in him few season’s back under Sir Alex Ferguson, but somehow the deal didn’t materialise. Since then, he finds himself getting linked with the Old Trafford club even though one struggles to find the logic behind.
Here the situation is bit different though. With Dutch manager at helm, Dutch players are now frequently getting linked with the 20 times champions. Sneijder is of no exception.
The Holland international is a world class player no doubt but United have an avalanche of attacking players in that position and a move for him hardly makes any sense.
We think we found a clue to this rumour. The Express reported few back that Galatasaray are looking to offload Sneijder as they are keen to fund a move for Balotelli. Two plus two makes four. Sneijder is a long term target of Manchester United, plus Dutch connection – perfect fodder for a solid gossip. It has been taken by Sport and probably by other media outlets as well.
If anything United do not need at the moment is another attacking midfielder and can’t see Sneijder joining Old Trafford this summer, unless Louis van Gaal wishes to sell few midfielders from the squad.
