Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has agreed a new five-and-a-half year contract, where he will earn up to up to £300,000 per week.
The new contract will tie him down till June 2019, though the Old Trafford club has yet to officially announce the deal.
The 28-year-old joined Everton in 2004 and is only 42 goals short of passing Bobby Charlton’s record total of 249 for United.
Rooney looked all set to Old Trafford last summer under former Man Utd manager Alex Ferguson but under David Moyes, he has played an important role again, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists thus far.
Rooney was targeted by Chelsea and had more than one bid for him rejected but Moyes wanted to keep his former player at the Old Trafford club.
Rooney has won five Premier League titles and one Champions League during his time at the club. The Red Devils are 11 points off the top four and there is a genuine doubt whether they could qualify for the Champions League spot this season.
