Frank Lampard may have left West London last summer, but he still manages to make Chelsea fans go crazy all around the world. In a Q&A session with the Blues’ faithful on the club’s trip to New York, the midfielder addressed a huge crowd of fans, who were going absolutely ballistic at his every word.
The reigning Premier League champions are in their pre-season tour of the United States and played their first match against the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday. Lampard, who plays for New York City FC, spared some time to meet up with some of his old teammates, and to address the fans.

Despite his slightly unceremonious loan move to Manchester City last season, the Englishman is still held in the highest regard at Stamford Bridge. The fans chanted “We want our Frankie back”, to which Lampard retorted, “I’ll be back”, leading to a massive cheer.

The 37 year-old spent 13 glorious seasons at Chelsea, winning 3 Premier Leagues, 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, 1 Europa League and 1 Champions League title with the Blues. He also became the club’s highest every goalscorer, netting a total of 211 goals from midfield and surpassing Bobby Tambling in the process. Tambling, along with former Chelsea players Paul Canonville and Mario Melchiot, was also part of the session.
Lampard heaped praise on his former teammates Petr Cech, John Terry and Didier Drogba, lauding their massive influence on the club’s fortunes over the last decade.
Lampard, undoubtedly one of the Premier League greats, will line up with some other legends like Andrea Pirlo and David Villa for his new club. It will be fantastic though, to see him return to Stamford Bridge at some point in the future to take up a different role.
