Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the last few days.
The German international is apparently a target for Arsenal and Chelsea this summer. Both clubs are in need of centre-backs this summer and the La Liga star is a prime target.
The 24-year-old defender could be sold if a suitable offer comes in. Valencia are struggling to meet the FFP requirements and although they want to sell other players in order balance their books, there are simply no takers.
Arsenal will be without Per Mertesacker for a few months due to injury and Chelsea are looking to sign an experienced partner for Kurt Zouma. Signing Mustafi would be quite a coup for both sides. The German is not only a very good centre back, he can operate as a right-back as well.
At 24, he has significant experience and will only get better under the coaching of Wenger or Conte. Furthermore, he has played in England with Everton before and is aware of the challenges. Therefore, the player might settle in quickly.
It is understood that Valencia are holding out for a fee of 30 million Euros for the German international. The La Liga outfit have already started looking for replacements in Raul Albiol, Sidnei and Vedran Corluka. This suggests that although a deal might not be done yet, there is a good chance of the transfer happening later in the window.
Yesterday there were reports that Chelsea are willing to meet Valencia’s asking price and would pay 30 million Euros for the 24-year-old centre back.
Earlier today, there were reports that AC Milan have given up the chase and the Premier League giants are the only clubs interested in the player now.
Mustafi is currently training in the outskirts of London with his teammates and if a deal can be agreed with Valencia, the formalities should be completed soon.
